Kimono Diagram

Description

A kimono, the traditional Japanese dress =D
this one, obviously, is a women's kimono.
The finest Kimono are hand-dyed and made of silk (and also VERY expensive!!)
This diagram is for Winter, Spring, and Fall kimono (or just your everyday geisha's kimono, but they wear it a little differently).

And the difference between different types of kimono:
Winter: made out of a thicker cloth. Usually neutral colors or pastels.
Spring: Made of a thinner cloth. Usually light colors, but often very bright. The patterns are usually flowers, birds, butterflies, plants, ect. (the kimono in the drawing is a Spring kimono =D)
Fall: Made of a slightly thicker cloth than the Spring kimono. Usually brightly colored, in reds, yellows, and greens.

And I didn't list Summer kimono, I know. A women's summer kimono is called a yukata, and the only major difference is that instead of an obi, it just has a sash tied in a bow in back. And the sash is tied around the waist, not under the bustline :hmm:

Often times the collar of the kimono isn't a different color from the rest of the dress.... (it's usually the same color and pattern) but I like drawing them that way :)
And another thing to remember is that the obi and that little cloth that holds the obi down at the top are usually very brightly colored and don't really match the kimono :XD:

Kanamari (c) ME! NO STEALING! (Yes I used Kanamari lol. She's short like the average Japanese woman, so she just naturally looks good in kimono :XD:)

Hope you find this helpful =D

EDIT: People have been saying this is helpful.... But it's kind of inaccurate... Sometime soon I will re-draw it.
